AKMC founded and conducts the annual Casper Lauer police memorial run.
Named in honor of Casper Lauer, one of the first Chicago Police Officers to be killed in the line of duty and dedicated to all Police Officers in the nation killed serving the people they protect. Read more about PO Lauer here.
When this run was created, PO Lauer was considered the first Chicago Police Officer to die in the line of duty. Since that time, evidence has emerged that Constable James Quinn was, in fact, the first Chicago Police Officer to die in the line of duty. Read more about Constable Quinn here.
